Holocaust Remembrance – Howie Good

My cousin Rebecca and her husband went on a trip to former Nazi-occupied Poland with a
group from their temple. The climax of the trip was a walk of a couple of miles from Auschwitz
to Birkenau, two of the most notorious death camps. It’s called “The March of Life.” I asked my
cousin how it was. “Good,” she said, like a tombstone talking to me in Polish, a language I don’t
understand.

Howie Good is a professor emeritus at SUNY New Paltz whose poetry collections include The Dark and Akimbo, available from Sacred Parasite, a Berlin-based publisher. Sacred Parasite is scheduled to publish his newest collection, True Crime, in 2026.
